On paper, only director David Gordon Green looks like a first choice for an action-packed comedy stoner called Pineapple Express, the latest film to emerge from the current comedy kingpin Judd Apatow. Green, who is known for the material much more dramatic as Undertow or Snow Angels, but he recently led one of the funniest movies of the year.
Pineapple Express is the second script written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Their first great year 2007 Superbad was released just after the brilliant Knocked Up, a double whammy hilarious film that really put Apatow on the way. Surprisingly, since then, the pictures have materialized under the supervision of belly laughs Apatow does not correspond to the aforementioned hits. But with Rogen and Goldberg back on the rights of scripting, a big belly laugh now been completely restored with Pineapple Express proves to be the funniest movie since Superbad Apatow.
Rogen stars as Dale, a soldier smoking weed control is one of its objectives (Gary Cole) commit a murder. After fleeing the scene, Dale and his drug dealing friend Saul (James Franco) are on the run together, because hunting the murderer.
